The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened a fresh bidding process for countries interested in hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
This comes after the decision of CAF Executive Committee to withdraw the organization of 2019 AFCON from Cameroon.
African football’s governing body has since provided an update on the process to agree a new host country of the next AFCON tournament.
CAF today (Thursday, 6 December) confirmed the following:·
– Request for Applications to host the AFCON 2019 have now been sent to all CAF Member Associations;
– MAs interested in bidding must submit their bid books to CAF by midnight EET [Cairo time] Friday 14 December;
– From 15 December 2018, CAF will make a short list announcement, request further information from bidders and make possible on-site visits to complete the evaluation of applications;
– Once the technical evaluation phase has been completed, the CAF Executive Committee will decide the new host of AFCON 2019 which will take place in summer 2019.CAF will make further statements when appropriate.
